As fires continue to burn across Los Angeles, it’s more important than ever to prioritize safety for yourself. These fires have already demonstrated that no one is immune, and quick action can save lives

1️⃣ Sign Up for Real-Time Fire Alerts

Evacuation orders and updates can change rapidly. Stay informed by signing up for alerts from the LA Fire Department: LAFD Alerts.

2️⃣ Be Ready to Evacuate at Any Moment

Evacuation orders can come with little warning. Make sure you:

  • Identify multiple evacuation routes from your location.
  • Share these routes with family or roommates to ensure everyone knows where to go.
  • Keep your vehicle fueled and ready to leave immediately if ordered to evacuate.

3️⃣ Protect Your Property Where Possible

Remove flammable items like patio furniture, dry leaves, and trash from around buildings.

Ensure garden hoses are accessible and water sources are functional.

Close all windows and doors to prevent embers from entering structures.

4️⃣ Stay Updated on Local Evacuation Centers and Resources

If evacuation is necessary, know where to go:

  • Check local authorities for the nearest shelters or safe zones.
  • Have a list of emergency contacts, including local fire departments and disaster response teams.
